Current Morning Skincare Routine

Posted on 23 February 2015

This weekends video is a little bit late (I always try to post on Fridays), but better late than never! It's been quite a hectic weekend being home alone with Edward, and of course I always put him before the blog. But anyway, this is my current skincare routine in the morning. I've been enjoying so many of the products in my routine as of late, so I thought it was time to finally film this. It's a bit of a mish-mash brand wise, but that's just how I roll, I can't contain myself to one or two brands. It seems though, that whatever I'm using at the moment, there's always a little bit (or alot) of La Mer in there. I won't go on right now, and I'll let the video speak for itself. Literally.

Chanel Les 4 Ombres 236 Tissé Fantasie

Posted on 22 February 2015

For spring Chanel released two Les 4 Ombres eyeshadow quads and I picked up one of them, in the colours Tissé Fantasie. It comes in a classic black and sleek Chanel compact with a big mirror inside. It contains a pinky-orange shade, a pearly white, a metallic green with golden shimmer and a dark brown with orange/gold shimmer. They are all shimmer shades but the shimmer is very fine, we're not talking glitter here. It's very subtle and absolutely daytime friendly.

I find the quality of the shades a bit too varying to really enjoy this quad. The dark brown is definetly the best. It's buttery and very pigmented, and it's easy to work with. The green is also quite good, although I was a bit dissapointed that it applies a little bit grey-looking. The other two are what pulls this down though. The orangy-pink shade is beautiful, but not as pigmented as the two first ones, and the white is just a regular highlight shade, and a little bit chalky as well. It's just not that exciting. I would claim that you don't need this, unless you're absolutely crazy about all of the colours. Although the brown is a great shadow in a beautiful colour, it's far from unique.

Out of all my spring purchases this is easily my least favorite. I really wanted to try the reformulated Les 4 Ombres, but I'm just left with the feeling that it wasn't worth it, although worth is very personal. I rarely shop eyeshadow palettes for this reason, and I did get this slightly for blog reasons, which I now regret. I would return this if I could.

If you want to see me haul this, and the rest of my spring collection purchases you can do that HERE, and make sure you check back to read my reviews of the rest of my new products.

Chanel 643 Désiro

Posted on 19 February 2015

For spring 2015 Chanel released three polishes in their Reverie Parisienne collection. I only picked up one, in the colour Désirio. It is a cream polish in a beautiful dark pink, almost orchid shade. It has microscopic flecs of purple shimmer, that is barely visible to the naked eye. It's not visible on the nail, just in the bottle, so I'm still calling it a cream shade. This is a colour that would look amazing on any skintone, and it will be wearable almost all year, especially for spring and summer. I would say it's muted enough even for work.

I don't have any polishes that are perfect dupes, but I found two to compare it too. The closest shade is 217 Splendeur (which I got 10 years ago), which is a pure cream shade that is slightly lighter and a tiny bit warmer. 619 Pink Tonic from last summer is also very similar, but even lighter and more of a pure pink with microscopic gold shimmer. I also believe 533 April is the closest newer Chanel match, but that one is darker are more muted.

Unfortunately for Chanel, their polishes tend to either be on the great or terrible end of the quality scale. Luckily, this is one of the best ones I've bought in years. It lasts a good four days before chipping on me, but I do work alot with my hands so I consider four days to be a long time. It does also apply very evenly and it's easy to work with. Two coats and it's completly opaque.

Out of all my spring purchases I think this is my favourite. Everything about it is perfect, and I will be wearing this all through spring. Remember to check out my spring collections haul to see what else I got, and keep an eye out right here to read about the rest of my haul.

2015 Spring Collections Haul + First Impressions

Posted on 16 February 2015

We're well into February and I feel like I'm overdue to share my spring purchases. I ended up picking up quite a few bits in January and early February, mostly from the spring collections but also one new release that is permanent. I've got some exciting pieces, so I'm glad I can finally share them with you. Instead of doing just another regular haul video, I decided to make one with first impressions, and also my overall impressions of the collections. I would love some feedback if that's something you like, or hate, so I can do it again in the future. The limited edition jungle can be a nightmare, and I know first hand how easy it can be to shop like a madman ("because it will be gone in a minute!") and having buyers remorse. I'm hoping this video can be a little guide of sorts and help you not waste your money.

Now what sucks a little bit is that these the Chanel collection launched in the US before Christmas even (crazy!) and most items will probably be long gone by now. But alas, this is what I've got to work with and luckily European launchdates are more or less the same.

Be sure to check back later this week, or tomorrow if you want to, and catch my posts on the products. And as always, if you want to subscribe to my channel you can do that HERE.
